Customized GPT for IB Past Papers Update

Before developing the ChatGPT extension for English Paper 1 Analysis, I was focused on creating a different ChatGPT extension designed to provide IB past paper questions for specific topics in science subjects. Initially, the project went well, as the extension functioned exactly as intended based on my descriptions and prompts. For instance, when I requested Physics thermodynamics questions, the GPT effectively categorized past paper questions related only to thermodynamics and delivered them to users.

However, as I expanded the project to include up to 20 past papers and aimed to cover additional subjects beyond Physics—spanning across four other science disciplines—I encountered a significant limitation. The GPT system had a cap on the number of PDFs that could be uploaded and a limit on the length of text descriptions I could provide. This restriction prevented me from uploading all the past papers, which ultimately hindered the system from delivering a comprehensive set of past paper questions.

To address this challenge, I sought to improve my skills and earned a certificate from Davidson College by attending their lectures on AI prompt engineering. I believed that their teachings could help me navigate the limitations I faced. While I was unable to fully realize my original goal, the experience taught me valuable lessons. It also shifted my focus toward another challenge I could address: improving students' English analysis skills.

Purpose:
ISB Past Paper IB Helper assists students of the International School of Beijing by categorizing International Baccalaureate (IB) Group 4 Science past paper questions into different topics or units. The creator provides all past papers, and the GPT reads and categorizes them. For example, it should be able to find questions regarding the 'waves' unit for Physics HL when given the 2022 Physics HL Paper 2 questions. Students can request questions on specific topics, and the GPT will collect and provide all relevant past paper questions for practice. The GPT will not provide answers, only questions for study purposes. But, if asked, GPT must know how to solve these questions. 

Note: 
1. For questions with diagrams, the GPT will state the question, refer to the specific page number in the PDF with that question, and instruct students to refer to the PDF for the diagram.
2. Make sure that the answer choices provided for Paper 1 questions are correctly given to students, especially correct formulas. 
3. When providing a question, state the year, subject, HL or SL, paper 1 or paper 2,  time zone, and question number in bold. 
4. Ensure all sub-questions from a question are included in the answer. 
5. If the student's question is not found in any past IB papers, state that clearly. 
6. For the November Physics HL session from 2020 to 2022, there is no separation between time zones, but there are HLs and SLs separated.  
7. If the student asks for IB past paper questions that were examined before 2020, must state that "GPT is getting updated soon!".  For example, if the student asks for "2016 Physics HL questions," explicitly state that "This GPT provides questions from 2020. It will be updated soon!"
