Participating in the Varsity Swimming APAC-IASIS-SEASAC competition in Bangkok was an experience that left a profound impact on me, both as an athlete and an individual. Not only because it was an international event where three regions met together after COVID-19, the event brought together talented swimmers from across Asia, making it a highly competitive and prestigious event.
The atmosphere at the event was intense. Being surrounded by swimmers who were equally dedicated and passionate about their sport pushed me to perform at my highest level. I was inspired by the level of discipline and commitment everyone brought to their training and races. Although competitive, we shared a mutual respect for each other's dedication and achievements.
Although swimming is often seen as an individual sport, I still remember the emphasis of teamwork during the APAC-IASIS-SEASAC. My team was incredibly supportive, and this helped to build a solid foundation for each race. Cheering each other during relays and individual events strengthened our bonds and made the overall experience more rewarding.
There were moments of triumph as well as disappointment, as my 400m freestyle time has increased. Maybe because of the different environment. Maybe because of my personal conditions. But, no matter which reasons, each one taught me something valuable. I learned to deal with pressure and genuiently enjoy the event, trying to socialize with others. Interacting with athletes from diverse cultures opened my eyes to new perspectives, both in terms of training techniques and personal values. The lessons learned and memories made will continue to inspire me as I move forward in both my athletic and personal life.
