Automating Travel Advertising with AI: My Internship Experience
During my Winter break and Chinese New Year break, I spent my time interning at an online travel agency that targets Japanese tourists visiting South Korea. This experience not only provided insight into the tourism industry but also allowed me to apply my AI knowledge to create automation tools that enhance their advertising efforts while reducing labor costs. Building an AI-Powered Advertising Program
One of the most significant contributions I made during this internship was developing an AI-powered advertising program using Make.com. The company’s website, hosted on Shopify, sells tickets for travel destinations, transportation, and various services in South Korea. My program collects textual information and images from these tourist locations and processes them using multiple AI tools to generate engaging promotional content.
The program follows a two-channel approach:
First Channel: Instagram Marketing
- Textual Information Processing: ChatGPT processes all collected textual data and generates a realistic, first-person review of the tourist locations and services. This ensures a more authentic and engaging narrative that resonates with potential customers.
- Image Processing with Placid AI: Placid utilizes non-AI high-quality images from the company's website, which is extracted by this program from Make.com. These images are incorporated into beautifully designed promotional posters using predefined templates in Placid.
- Social Media Posting: The finalized posters and reviews are automatically posted on the company's Instagram account, ensuring a seamless and efficient content distribution process.

- AI-Generated Posters with DALLE: Instead of using real images from the company’s website, this channel utilizes DALLE to create AI-generated artistic representations of the travel destinations.
- ChatGPT Review Integration: The AI-generated visuals are then paired with ChatGPT’s first-person perspective reviews to create engaging blog posts.
- Publishing on Company’s Blog: These AI-powered promotional materials are uploaded directly to the company’s personal blog, providing an alternative yet visually appealing approach to content marketing
Reflections on My Experience
This internship was an invaluable learning experience that allowed me to apply AI automation in a real-world business setting. One of the key takeaways was understanding how AI can streamline marketing efforts, reduce manual workload, and enhance engagement through tailored content. By automating the review-writing and image generation process, the company was able to scale its advertising efforts with minimal human intervention.
Additionally, working with Make.com, ChatGPT, Placid AI, and DALLE deepened my understanding of AI integration in digital marketing. I learned how to optimize AI tools for practical applications, ensuring a balance between automation and authenticity in customer engagement.
Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of this project was seeing my work in action—watching the AI-generated Instagram posts gain traction and the blog content attract more visitors. It was a testament to how AI can be leveraged not just for efficiency but also for creativity in business strategies.
Moving forward, I hope to continue refining this AI-driven advertising model and explore new ways AI can enhance business operations across different industries. This internship reaffirmed my passion for combining AI with business, and I’m excited to see where this intersection leads me next.
