From Art to Algorithms: My Journey Behind the Internship for the Orangerie & Orsay Exhibition in Seoul

DNam1 2025. 10. 19. 22:50

When I joined GNC Media as an Operations Specialist and Product Management Intern, I didn’t expect to find myself at the crossroads of art, culture, and artificial intelligence. From September to October 2025, I worked behind the scenes of the Exhibition of the Musée de l’Orangerie and the Musée d’Orsay at the Seoul Art Center, where masterpieces by Cézanne and Renoir came alive for audiences across Korea.

🖼️ What the Exhibition Was

The Orangerie and Orsay Exhibition was more than a display of French Impressionism — it was a cultural bridge between Paris and Seoul for the celebration of 140 years diplomatic relationship between those two countries. It offered visitors a chance to walk through the evolution of Cezanne and Renoir's artworks.

Yet, what made this exhibition truly special was its audience. It drew visitors from all over the world — from art enthusiasts to curious travelers — creating a space where language, culture, and creativity met. That diversity was where my work began.

⚙️ What I Did

My role combined operations management, AI-powered marketing, and on-site service optimization.

On the digital front, I worked with emerging AI tools — Sora AI, Kling AI, CapCut, and Pippit — to create over 13 promotional videos for the exhibition. We had a zero marketing budget, so creativity became our currency. I generated video prompts, captions, and SNS descriptions using ChatGPT and Gemini, which helped our content reach over 4,500 views and increase engagement from non-Korean visitors by 40%.

Behind the scenes, I led workflow optimization for the exhibition store, helping standardize packaging processes for over 7,000 products and training part-time staff. This initiative increased throughput by 50%, reducing delays and improving efficiency.

And on-site, I implemented a queue management system (CatchTable) and provided multilingual support in English and Chinese. These small but strategic changes resulted in a 70% boost in sales and fewer visitor complaints — a reminder that operational excellence is often about empathy as much as systems.

🌏 Final Reflection

As I look back, what stays with me isn’t just the numbers or metrics — it’s the people. The excited visitors seeing Renoir’s colors for the first time. The teamwork behind every smooth queue and every packed souvenir. The thrill of watching AI help art find a wider audience.

This internship reminded me why I’m drawn to the intersection of technology, culture, and human experience. Whether it’s through building systems, analyzing user needs, or designing creative automation tools, my goal remains the same: to use innovation as a bridge — connecting people, stories, and ideas across borders.
